Explore the peaceful ambiance of this historic site, steeped in centuries of cultural and religious significance. Following this, you’ll enjoy a rickshaw ride to explore the vibrant Chandni Chowk Market. You will board your rickshaw and enter the colourful and narrow laneways of Old Delhi. Located on the Rajpath, it stands as a tribute to the 82,000 soldiers of the undivided Indian Army who sacrificed their lives during 1914–21, spanning the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. These brave soldiers fought and fell in various theatres of conflict, from France and Flanders to Mesopotamia, Persia, East Africa, Gallipoli, and beyond in the Near and Far East. India Gate serves as a solemn reminder of their courage and valour, ensuring that their memory endures for generations to come.

Why Choose

We’ve walked the walk

Exploring the world’s most remote reaches and challenging destinations requires a high level of expertise which can only be learned from first-hand experience. We know because we go.

Your safety first

In an ever-changing global landscape of rules, regulations and restrictions, rest-assured you are being looked after by those in the know. Given the remote regions that we explore, our passengers safety is our top priority.

What our adventurers are saying

Our driver, Shankar, was so lovely and kind. Our first guide, Durga, was incredibly conscientious. Durga did a fabulous job adjusting to what we needed while showing us through Chandri Chowk and the Sheikh temple. It was so nice to have that awareness and adjustment for us. The next guide, Yousef, was a bit more traditional, but had a perfect execution of when to be places! He got us great and quiet experiences at the Red Fort as well as just second in the queue at Taj Mahal so we had the place to ourselves for the first while – even inside all by ourselves!! It was magical. We can’t thank you enough for such a wonderful experience!

Lindsay Lake – India

“Dealing with Crooked Compass has been an absolute pleasure. I highly recommend them. Mich worked very hard to ensure our private tour hit all the highlights we were looking for in a trip to India. She was responsive, courteous and gave us some great suggestions. All communications were timely and helpful.
Maureen also was a standout. The information provided to assist us to prepare for the trip was terrific. She also ensured we were assisted while in India itself when we hit a slight snag (no fault of Crooked Compass). Their local agents were delightful with a very generous (an unexpected) gift to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
India was stunning but the highlight was a stay at Brij Lakshman nature resort in rural Pali district in an old hunting lodge (recommended by Mich). A sunset trek to a deserted fort and walk with a local shepherd will be memories I’ll treasure forever.”

Lisa Storrs – India

Our trip to India ran smoothly and at our pace. Guides knowledge was excellent and our driver got us everywhere safe and sound. Would definitely travel with Crooked Compass again!
