Need a break from the hype and extravagance of the UAE? The Musandam Peninsula - a truly spectacular region well worth exploring and perfect for those short on time. Only a couple of hours drive from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, or a short one hour flight from Muscat, this Arabian gem is still relatively untouched thanks to the sheer fjords that have kept this region hidden and relatively inaccessible for so long. Explore the sapphire waters contrasting with fragmented rusty red rocks. Overshadowing cliffs, crumbled villages, bleating goats and humble fishing towns. The waters are like a bath, warm and inviting, brimming with rich marine life. Traditional wooden dhows sail silently across the water, a reminder that time here stands still as the days of the yesteryears float by.
