Goroka in Pictures
Photographer, Kate Pientka, recently travelled with us on our four day Goroka Festival tour in Papua New Guinea. As expressions such as “Wow! What an amazing, unique and eye-opening cultural experience” and “the incredible colours, chanting and dancing of the hundreds of tribes was truly incredible to witness”, we could not wait to share Kate’s emotive pictures with you!
The Goroka Festival is a four day festival which takes place in September each year, showcasing one of the largest tribal gatherings in the world. More than 100 tribes participate in this festival, performing extraordinary displays of traditional song, dance and ritual whilst adorned in unique costumes, elaborate face paintings in an explosion of colours.
Kate’s photos capture the intimate moments she shared with the tribes and offer you a true insight in the colour and chaos that is the Goroka Cultural Show.
